So if like me you are in a massage rut, branch out! Try something new. Whatever you do though, stop thinking about the gender of your therapist. You may really be missing out if you don’t.

Yesterday I called and made an appointment at the last minute and they were able to fit me in for the next day. I was so happy as I was in pain from helping a friend move. Please be advised, as it has been mentioned in previous reviews, they do take your credit card number over the phone and will charge you a fee if you miss your appointment. This is explained to you when you call and I had no problem with the policy. Make sure you leave early and get directions as to where you are going because they are located in Dixboro which is a tiny town (technically Ann Arbor) that can be hard to find. It’s basically Cherry Hill and Plymouth Roads. The office is located behind Moonwinks Coffee House. So, when I arrived, Erin took care of me and she could not have been nicer. As I was waiting, several clients came out of the massage rooms gushing over how happy they were with their massages. I met with Kristy who got my history and went through my pain issues before my massage. I had chosen the Hot Stone Massage as I’ve enjoyed it elsewhere and found it to be very therapeutic. Because I came during “happy hour” it was priced at $75 rather than $100 for 90 minutes. And OMG was it worth it! I would have paid full price for this massage. I was in so much ridiculous pain going into the massage room and by the time Kristy finished working on me, I was relaxed, my muscles were loose, and my pain was relieved. I think I fell asleep for a minute there I was so relaxed. The stones were hot but comfortable and Kristy was obviously well trained in using them. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and the massage bed was large. I will be recommending Balance Massage Therapy to my friends and family and I will be going back. I had a fantastic experience there.

Overview
Reflexology is a therapy based on the principle that there are small and specific areas of innervation in the hands and feet that correspond to specific muscle groups or organs of the body.

The image illustrates how in this system, the nerve endings in the extremities provide a “map” of the rest of the body.  With the application of pressure on particular areas of the hands or feet, reflexology helps promote such benefits as relaxation, reduction of tension, improved circulation, and support of normalized function in the related area in the body.

What you can expect during a session
At Balance, a typical reflexology can last 30 to 60 sixty minutes.  Reflexology can be incorporated into any massage session, or a client can request a specific session centered around refeloxology.  In these cases, a client’s shoes and socks are removed, and the client is made comfortable on the massage table. Pressure is applied in thumb-and-finger “walking” patterns, resulting in gentle stretching and massaging of specific zones of the hands and feet that are thought to correspond to body organs.  Home care suggestions may be discussed at the end of the session.

Booking Policy:

Balance Massage Therapy requires a Credit Card to book/reserve appointment slots.

If you have a gift certificate, you may use the BMT gift cert number to hold your appointment, however, if you late cancel or fail to show you the gift cert will become void.

Cancellation Policy:

Outside of emergencies and illness, Balance requires 24 hours notice to move or cancel your appointment.

If you late cancel or fail to show the credit card we secure at booking will be charged $30 per 60 min sessions and $45 per 90 min sessions.  

If you have a prepaid session on your account, you have the option of paying the late cancel fee or forfeiting your entire session.

Rebook Discount:

When you book your next appointment the same day as your visit, you’ll save 10% off your next appointment.

If later you cancel or change the appointment date/time, you will lose the rebook discount and be charged the full amount of the session.

Rebook discount only applies to standard rate massage.

Minors:

Any child under the age of 18 will need to have the client intake form signed by a legal parent/guardian.

For any child under the age of 13, we require the parent/legal guardian to be in the room with the child during the course of the massage.

Referral Rewards:

Thank you for referring your friends, co-workers and family to BMT. The $10 credit on you account is dependent on the following:

• Referred Client is paying for the session
• Referred Client lives in state
• Happy Hour time slots are not eligible for referral credit
• $40 60 Min/$60 90 Min sessions/gift certs are not eligible for referral credit

$40 60 Min/$60 90 Min Sessions:

• Cannot be used during Happy Hours
• No Cash Value assigned – they are for 60 min or 90 min session
• Sessions cannot be split – must be used for session length purchased

$50 Holiday Gift Cert Sale:

• No Cash Value assigned – they are for 60 min massages
• In order to get the 6th one free, all 5 gift certs must be purchased at the same time.
• Lost Gift Certs are the responsibility of the purchaser. If you hold on to your receipt, we will be able to track down the numbers purchased, other wise we are unable to do so.

MAD Gift Certs:

• MAD Gift Certs cannot be transferred to another person.
• If you late cancel/no show your MAD appointment, the gift cert is void.
• MAD Gift Certs cannot be booked during Happy Hours.
• There expiration dates assigned to the MAD gift certs.
