After starting a nursing job, I wanted to be sure I was taking care of myself (my back included). This has a started love affair with full body massages at Balance. I’ve been twice so far, and am planning on making this an every 6wk tradition. I heard about Balance through word of mouth, and am now returning the favor!
Things I love:
-Atmosphere (beautifully decorated, quiet, spacious rooms, calming music)
-the heated massage tables (need I say more?)
-specials (ask about new client specials, happy hours, and hero discounts)
-the price (even at full price, $60 isn’t bad for a 1hr session)
-great customer service
I’ve seen Brendan and Jeff, and both were great. They ask about areas to focus on, and check in during the session about amounts of pressure, etc. I also introduced a friend from out of town to Balance, and she was also super impressed. A massage at Balance would be well worth a drive!

My parents owned a country store that was on the same property as our house. I always say I literally grew up in a business. My crib was just on the other side of the counter, and I was helped raised by a community of customers. Hickory Market taught me at an early age the importance of treating customers right. When my dad passed away in 2004, I moved back home to help my mom run our store. The community that my dad had spent a life time serving, took care of mom and me more than I could ever have imagined. With Balance, I look to build on those lessons and run a business that both realizes the importance of community and one that would make my dad proud.

I have had so many disappointing experience when massage places focus too much on ”relaxation” and never apply enough pressure to actually help you address you muscular tension. Balance Massage is exactly what it sounds like: it takes out all the gimmick of fancy spa and give you the necessary work on your body in a clean, quiet space. The ongoing mission of our FD team is to serve the needs of our clients. Each visit. Every time. When a client is unhappy for any reason we make it right with them immediately. It is not good enough to just meet your expectations, we want to exceed them. If this hasn’t been done then we have not fully done our job. Mike Rollet, Front Desk Manager
Balance has been lucky to have Mike on our team since August of 2009. He started out as part time help during Happy Hours and quickly worked his way into a full time position – eventually becoming the manager. Mike’s kind and gentle nature has made him a client favorite. He firmly believes in BMT’s “Yes And” client service philosophy and both lives it and helps teach it. Aside from his FD management duties, Mike is the resident expert on our MindBodyOnline software application, and he is the playing a lead role in creating and implementing the systems for our Balance-In-Motion chair massage division. He is an amazing team leader and thrives on providing positive feedback and offering support on a daily basis.
Erin joined the BMT team in August of 2011. Her passion for client service and making sure all clients leave happy was evident from the start. She is the anchor of our morning shifts, working M-F 9-3. Erin helps set the tone for the week and is the go to person for many of our day to day administrative needs. Erin is in charge of many monthly/weekly projects including our Client Surveys and heading up our team building operations. Friendly and efficient, you will see Erin multi tasking and being happy to do so.
Chris joined BMT in March 2012. Chris comes to us with 9 years experience working and managing at The Michigan Theater. Clients and the BMT team alike appreciate his calm and kind nature. Chris is currently our lead in entering client intake forms and giving out referral credit. We’ve also tagged Chris as our “on the fly guy” and have him helping out with errands, build out needs and projects on a go to basis.
Brent joined our FD team in July of 2012. He follows in Josie & Chris’ proud tradition of working at Caribou coffee. Brent runs our Thursday evening, Saturday morning and Sunday shifts. He is assisting us with our HR needs and documenting our systems. He is committed to client service and works each day to help people find Balance. We’re so thrilled to have Brent’s positive energy at BMT.
